Mara Trifu is a Romanian freelance documentary director and camera operator. She graduated from the National University of Drama and Film I. L. Caragiale Bucharest in 2011. She completed her MA at the National Film and Television School in the UK. Her award-winning short films have been screened at numerous film festivals, including Semaine de la Critique - Cannes, IDFA, Transylvania IFF, Circuito Off, Timishort IFF Romania. She participated in numerous international film workshops, like Sarajevo Talent Campus, Aristoteles Workshop, Berlinale Talent Campus, Docstories Black Sea and Docs in Thessaloniki. Her filmography includes When Mountains and Animals Will Speak (2014), The Bridge (2013), The Japanese Quince Tree (2012) and You Can’t Hide Love from Gypsies (2011).

A tree is what it is, complete in its own being. Human beings, on the other hand, always aspire to become something more, doing their best to hold back time in pursuit of eternal love, youth and beauty.
