Marele Premiu BIEFF 2014 (oferit de Institutul Cultural Român) – 3000€

THE BURIED ALIVE VIDEOS
de Roee Rosen (Israel, 2013, )

The Buried Alive Videos

Statement-ul juriului BIEFF:
Through different cinematic styles and with absurd humor, this film deconstructs the myths surrounding Russian political figures and questions the urge and the power of art, especially the avant-garde. Rousing in audiences the critical thinking and healthy skepticism regarding politics, it warns us that a fictionalized past could challenge the real future. The award for Best Film goes to THE BURIED ALIVE VIDEOS by Roee Rosen.

Premiul pentru Cea Mai Bună Regie (oferit de Abis Studio) – 1000€

REDEMPTION
de Miguel Gomes (Portugalia / Franța / Germania / Italia, 2013, )

Redemption

Statement-ul juriului BIEFF:
For its poetic use of found footage in a highly political context and its capacity to challenge our expectations by bringing intimacy into universal topics, the jury has decided to give the Best Direction award to Miguel Gomes for REDEMPTION.

Premiul pentru Cea Mai Bună Imagine (oferit de Cinelab România) – 1500€

VIA DOLOROSA
de Menno Otten (Olanda, 2013, )

Via Dolorosa

Statement-ul juriului BIEFF:
Creating a micro-choreography through his use of close-ups, this eery yet meditative performative film builds up tension by emphasizing small changes in facial expressions and gestures, which move in and out of the frame in a tantric rhythm. The award for Best Cinematography goes to VIA DOLOROSA by Menno Otten.

Premiul pentru Cel Mai Bun Film Românesc (oferit de Cinelab România) – 1500€

STORM IS COMING
de Daniel Djamo (România, 2014, )

Storm Is Coming

Statement-ul juriului BIEFF:
Dealing with notions of nationality, identity and one's homeland in an intelligent way, this film disrupts and creates tension on several levels. Images are not related to the text in an obvious way. Existing stereotypes are acknowledged, while at the same time new ones are brought to life. A film that does not give decisive solutions and clear answers, but unconsciously and indirectly strikes even harder. The award for Best Romanian Film goes to STORM IS COMING by Daniel Djamo.

Mențiunea Specială a Juriului

DRY STANDPIPE
de Wojciech Bąkowski (Polonia, 2013, 12')

Dry Standpipe

Statement-ul juriului BIEFF:
For its singular lucidity of facing the banalities of everyday life and transposing mixed feelings into minimal and sculptural abstract images, the jury’s Special Mention goes to DRY STANDPIPE by Wojciech Bąkowski.
