The film III tackles the issues of rape culture and sexual assault through three different cases in three different countries: China, Vienam and Romania; it also considers the way these cases where similarly “dismissed” by the authorities.
Director:
Yueying Feng was born in 1993, China. She spent her early childhood in her grandparents’ house in rural China, an experience which has permanently influenced her artistic expression. In her work, she observes impersonal relationships and interactions with others from a third-person perspective.

Kieu Anh was born in Vietnam and is currently an MFA Film candidate at Syracuse University (NY, USA). She also attained a degree in Cinema Production at Ithaca College (NY, USA). In her films she shows strong interest in diversity and immigrant narratives in a post-industrial, globalised society.

Ioana Țurcan is a filmmaker and visual artist who currently lives in Bucharest, Romania. She is enrolled in a post-master course at the Royal Academy of Art in Sweden that engages the topics of Dignity and Representation in Image and holds an MFA in Film and Video Production at Syracuse University, College of Visual and Performing Arts, New York. Ioana has a background in choreography and contact sports and her portfolio it's built on interdisciplinary works.

Curatorial comment:
The shocking three cases presented by the feminist visual-manifesto directed by Yueying Feng, Kieu Anh Truong and Ioana Țurcan are depicted by the representation of three bodies, all of them women, standing between a projector and a wall. On them there are projected fragments of short films directed by Maya Deren and Carolee Schneemann, iconic female voices in the history of cinema. Their nudity becomes a visual wake-up call which rejects the male gaze and embraces victimization which state strongly that rape culture is one of the most actual and worrying issues of modern society.
