KATHARINA CONRADI (b. 1965, Germany) studied dance and choreography in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Edinburgh and New York. She has more than twenty years experience throughout Europe as a dancer / performer, choreographer, teacher and playwright. In 1991 she started Fresh Track Productions. Conradi’s artistic work is characterized by a sensory approach of body versus space, operating on the borderline between dance and theatre. SERGIO GRIDELLI (Italy) has been working in the Netherlands as a freelancer since the nineties. Photocamera, videocamera and computer are the tools he uses in his own work or when commissioned. His clients include cultural institutions, such as theatre groups and dance companies or museums, for which he produces video trailers and short films.

In my work the environment always plays an important role. I find it a challenge to create a dance in an existing landscape and to watch the interaction. I am intrigued by the contrast in settings of a vulnerable body in rugged nature or a landscape solely consisting of concrete. HORIZON focuses on a dancer who uses her surroundings in a search for parts of herself. My fascination springs forth from a longing for originality that I so often miss within urban environments. Just as the tops of mountains exude a feeling of freedom, in the Netherlands the broad horizon brings about a longing for nature. (Katharina Conradi)
In my projects I always like to focus on consciously watching and listening. Not in order to draw conclusions, but because I like to create an awareness for that what surrounds us. Horizon is part of my analysis of man and city and how they influence each other. I want to question the absent horizon in urban surroundings. Did the city steal my horizon or did I allow it to happen? It is paradoxical, since the city is a human concept. We have almost taken for granted that we can no longer see the horizon when we move through the city. I want the audience to experience this through the lens of the camera, by observing the dancer. (Sergio Gridelli)
